Musical Cafe DVD

So I've finally come to the end of the bloody and brutal indoctrination into Ameteur Video Software, and this is the ultmate result. Make no mistake, it's definitely an ameteur project. Still, I'm sorta happy to be done witht he damn thing, especially since it's eaten up the better part of the last four unemployed months of my life.

Anyway, the final product is much different from the original awful live broadcast last April, mainly because I was able to sync up the audio recording that I made of the songs during the show. The ComTV crew had just bought a whole new soundboard or some other kind of hardware so we were the guinea pigs in this particular endeavor, though we did not squeal. Well, maybe I did. A bit.

Speaking of squealing, I've edited out most of the footage of the show's host, who, granted, was a substitute, but who still didn't blow anyone away with his quasi-charismatic self. So he's gone, except for a few bits at the beginning and end, and I graciously edited him a better performance. I also edited out most of my dumb blabbbering as well- might as well be fair.

Since this is a DVD, I thought I'd toss in the inevitable bonus tracks and whatnot that pop up on all the commercial discs. "The Sandman" and "I Fly Free" are taken from a webcast-to-VHS-to-movie file video made of our January UCSB performance, and I added them as a teaser for what hopefully will be a full disc of that show as well, if we can find the damn master tape. Also, a version of "So Cold" from our April Wildcat gig (a week after the TV show) is set to lots of photos that Ellie shot that night.

Rounding out the extras are some slideshows of Honey White and Mojo Wire photos from the vaults (and from this site), accompanied by music from each band; a discography of both bands with audio clips, and then my personal favorite- a bonus audio clip of Bryn playing "One Last Hallelujah" solo and instrumentally on his Smurfy-blue Jag, drenched in reverb and set to sepia-tinged photos from a small gig we did at Espresso Roma in I.V.
