Random News Flashes

On Saturday Earl invited Bryn and I to play an impromtu quickie quiet set as part of the "& Friends" bill of "Earl & Friends" at Bogart's (Mercy Rule, Lover Come Over, and Wayfaring Stranger). No, this doesn't count as our downtown double-bill- that might to come in January. We played on borrowed instruments- Bryn on Earl's guitar and me on Jeff's upright bass- the first time I'd played one since I was in 4th grade. We didn't do too badly, but since Brian and Billy weren't there, we kept it short.

Also, our debut CD is now available to buy online via the Seven South Record Shop. We've been preparing a few new covers to beef up the set until more of our own originals force their way in.

Gig Notes: Giovanni's, Isla Vista 12/5/02

Set: Unprofessional - Heart On A Platter - The Shivering Sand - One Last Hallelujah - Pisces Lullabye - Mercy Rule - Street Spirit (Bryn solo) - The Sandman - Windward Mark - Wayfaring Stranger - Fatal Flaws - You Let Me Fall - Lover You Should Have Come Over - How Far Away - The Lightning Rod - I Fly Free - Been Around The World - My Second Shipwreck

Our CD release party show got off to a shaky start but was soon running smoothly. Gio's was packed as usual for a Thursday and this audience got a treat when Bryn pulled out one of his many solo Radiohead covers. We actually got to play til 11:30, and the super-extendo set was loudly clamored for by the crowd (you know, we love playing places that serve beer!). As always I recorded the whole shebang, and some of it doesn't sound half bad- a live CD is a definite possibility. Speaking of CDs, we did manage to sell some, so now I guess that makes us officially In It For The Money. Thanks to all who came to cheer us on and thanks also to the Giovanni's staff for accommodating us with the free pizza and beer!

Billy got into Berklee!

That's right folks, our little drummer boy has been accepted on the strength of his demo, which includes "The Lightning Rod". If he can pay for it he is going to capitalize on his five-year ambition to go to the Berklee school of music in Boston for 2003. Cash donations will be highly appreciated!
